A new standard in effects.
Every guitarist craves a better way to satisfy his hunger for ultimate tone and control. The new AX3000G satiates that need with a powerful multi-effect processor that reaches far beyond its predecessors. Featuring Korg’s proprietary “REMS” modeling technology, the AX3000G delivers high-quality modeling sounds and numerous ways to control those sounds in real time. With an expression pedal, a control switch, and an expression step sequencer, the AX3000G Modeling Signal Processor has all the elements a guitarist needs to fulfill his expressive vision.
■ Korg’s legendary REMS technology delivers new amp, cabinet and effects models.
The AX3000G packs 72 types of amp models and effect sounds delivered by Korg’s world-acclaimed “REMS” modeling technology. In addition to true-to-life reproductions of a wide array of vintage and modern guitar amps and cabinets, REMS also provides standard effects such as chorus, delay and reverb, in gorgeous detail. These effects transcend the stereotypical concept of effects, and open up completely new vistas of sound for the electric guitar. There are synth effects that model a guitar synthesizer, and completely new effects such as the Filtron that goes far beyond the conventional auto-wah. You can use the Acoustic effect to transform the sound of your electric guitar into that of an electro-acoustic, or Pickup Modeling to transform the tonal character of your pickups without switching guitars. The AX3000G also provides send/return jacks that make it easy for you to connect your favorite effect unit There’s even a digital output (S/P DIF optical) jack so you can digitally record your playing without losing any of the amazing sound produced by REMS.
■ Expression pedal and control switch for even greater expressive power
In addition to using the AX3000G’s expression pedal in standard ways, such as to control volume or wah, you can freely assign the pedal to a variety of effect parameters for unrivaled expressive control. For example, if you assign the “MANUAL” parameter of a flanger to the pedal, you can use the pedal to control the sweep, creating a highly distinctive sound. By assigning the pedal to control the delay time of the “ECHO PLUS” effect (which models the sound of a tape echo), you can use the pedal to control delay time. There is virtually no limit to the new sounds you can create in this way – the pedal can control the reverberation time of a reverb effect, the modulation speed of a chorus, flanger, or phaser, and much more.
The AX3000G also provides a control switch that is a great asset in live performance. For example, you can use it to switch each effect block (such as the pre-effect and insert effect) on/off, to set effect parameters such as tap tempo of a delay in real time, to switch the rotational speed of a rotary speaker effect, or to control the Expression Step Sequencer (ESS). The possibilities are endless!
■ Expression Step Sequencer for a new realm of control
The Expression Step Sequencer (ESS) automatically controls most effect parameters in a fixed or random step function. You can assign up to eight steps of effect parameter values in the step sequencer, and specify one of seven ways in which the sequencer will play back these steps: Forward, Backward, Alternate 1/2, Random, Forward (one-shot), and Alternate 1/2 (one-shot). This lets you create sounds with complex movement that were unachievable until now.
For example, use the ESS with a pitch shifter effect to specify the pitch shift amount of each step and produce sounds that are reminiscent of a synthesizer’s arpeggiator. Or use the ESS with a wah effect and create wah sounds that move in stepwise fashion. Of course there’s also a Smooth setting that lets you produce a continuous change between steps. Vary the ESS speed in real time with the ESS expression pedal or a control switch. Eight Large-diameter LEDs give you a clear visual indication of the total number of steps in the sequence and location of the step that is currently in use.
■ Thirty-two amazing programs using Korg’s proprietary voicing technology
Korg’s team of tone technologists have poured their decades of unrivaled tone-creation experience into every one of the AX3000G’s 32 wide variety of preset programs. Use the internal programs or save your own in the 96 program locations that are provided for you to store your settings. There’s also an Individual mode in which you can use the foot switches to turn individual effects on/off just as if you were controlling a row of compact effects.
■ Analog-feeling ease of operation
Because the AX3000G is so easy to use, you can select, edit and use all of its features effortlessly. You can select an effect model just by turning the effect select knobs provided for each effect block. And you can edit each individual effect simply by turning the knobs of the familiar, analog-style user interface. Effect parameters are shown on the panel as a clear, understandable matrix.
■ Built-in auto chromatic tuner
The built-in auto chromatic tuner operates automatically when the AX3000G is bypassed or muted. Simply by selecting Mute mode when you’re on stage, you can tune without producing sound from your guitar amp or other connected equipment. The note name is shown in the bank display, and the pedal indicator and name display provide an accurate pitch indication that is easy to see even on dimly lit stages.
■ Designed for maximum ease of use and the ideal playing experience
Since the Output of the AX3000G can be connected to a variety of guitar amps (all of which have a different tonality) – or a mixer/recorder – four different equalizer settings are provided so you can ideally match the output of the AX3000G for the best results. The output choices are AP1 for connection to an opened-back U.S. combo amp; AP2 for connection to an opened-back U.K. combo amp with a distinctive sounding mid-range; AP3 for connection to a stack with 4 x 12 cabinets; and Ln for use with the Line output (including S/P DIF OUT), to go directly to a mixer/recorder or the power amp input of your guitar amp.
§ Key Lock helps make live performance switching easy.
The Key Lock function lets you prevent the switches and knobs from being accidentally changed during live performances. Every aspect of the AX3000G has been designed with the utmost attention to detail in order to ensure the ideal playing experience.
■ Extended possibilities via MIDI
The AX3000G can receive program change messages, and can also transmit MIDI messages in response to pedal operations to control other MIDI devices. You can also control the AX3000G from your DAW software, making it an ideal addition even to high-end recording setups.
■ “AX3000G Sound Editor” editor/librarian software for even more sound-creating potential
The “AX3000G Sound Editor” editor/librarian software lets you graphically view the many parameters of the AX3000G and easily edit them, as well as save and organize programs. This software can be downloaded from the website of your regional Korg distributor.

Since its introduction, the Pandora series has been acclaimed by guitarists and bassists for its high-quality sound, versatile functionality, and superb operability – all in an amazingly compact package. And now, two new models, the PX4D and the PX4A, join the series. The PX4D combines both guitar and bass functionality into a single unit, and delivers a major leap in functionality as well. Its comprehensive range of sounds includes vintage amps and a wide range of cabinets, as well as effects ranging from classic to distinctively unique. The PX4A is designed specifically for electric-acoustic guitar, and can transform a piezo output (which has a tendency to be sterile-sounding) into many warm, deep, rich and natural acoustic guitar body tones. These units are a great choice not only for practicing, but for any situation that demands great guitar or bass sound, including recording and live performance.
■ Numerous built-in high-quality effects utilizing “REMS” modeling technology
● The PX4D contains 158 effects that deliver vintage amp sounds and much more.
From high-end tube amps to rare vintage amps and classic favorites, the 25 amp types faithfully model the amp sounds that guitarists and bassists seek. Each of the 23 cabinet effects that reproduce the acoustic and structural resonances of a speaker cabinet were newly created especially for the PX4D.The creative possibilities are limitless – you can even combine a guitar amp with a bass cabinet.
In addition to standards such as compressor and wah, there are numerous realistic modeling effects that deliver a versatile range of tones. Pickup modeling transforms the sound of a single-coil pickup into that of a humbucking pickup (or vice versa), a guitar (bass) synth that lets you play synth sounds, an intelligent pitch shifter that automatically harmonizes with your playing, a talk effect that produces the impression that your guitar is speaking, a slow attack effect that creates violin-type swells, a feedback effect that allows feedback playing techniques that are normally possible only at high volumes, a rotary speaker that changes speed in response to your picking or fingering dynamics, a fretless bass effect that simulates the distinctive sound of a fretless bass, and many more are ready for your use.
● The PX4A contains 82 effects optimized for acoustic sounds
The PX4A contains Body effects that model the resonances and vibrational character of great acoustic guitars. Aspects such as guitar construction and body size are modeled in painstaking detail for numerous guitars, ranging from famous brands of the past through today’s leading-edge manufacturers. The direct sound from piezo pickups can tend to have a sterile character, but the PX4A’s effects add the distinctive warmth of resonating wood that is typical of an acoustic guitar, producing an extremely rich and natural sound.
The effects of the PX4A extend beyond the conventional boundaries of the electric-acoustic guitar to include models for resonator guitar, a newly developed banjo, and nylon-string guitar – you can play a wide variety of acoustic sounds using just a single instrument. There are also mic’ effects that simulate the sense of space and depth achieved by mic’ing an instrument. With the PX4A, mic’ing techniques that require years of experience and knowledge can be easily utilized by anyone, delivering superbly rich acoustic sound even when using a line output. There are also numerous other effects, ranging from standards such as compressor, limiter, echo, delay, reverb, and chorus, through distinctive effects such as a twelve-string effect that reproduces the sound of a twelve-string guitar, and even a drone effect that simulates the drone tones of ethnic instruments such as a tambura. With a virtual infinity of possibilities that still preserve your natural acoustic sound, the PX4A is the ideal choice for anything from home recording to live performance.
■ The PX4D provides 200 programs (100 preset / 100 user), and the PX4A provides 100 programs (50 preset / 50 user)
The PX4D provides 100 preset programs and the PX4A provides 50 preset programs, covering a broad range of styles, including sounds of famous artists. Each unit also lets you create and store the same number of user programs.
■ The PX4A has an Auto Notch function that automatically detects the feedback point.
The PX4A’s Notch effect is a helps to curtail the feedback (howling) that can be a problem for amplified acoustic instruments. There’s also an Auto Notch function that automatically detects the frequency at which feedback is occurring, so you can perform with the best acoustic sound at all times without being troubled by feedback.
■ Amp-like ease of operation
The user interface is knob-based for intuitive and easy use. Frequently-used parameters, such as the amp type, have their own independent dial, and the tone controls can also be adjusted as easily as on a guitar or bass amp simply by turning the knobs. The value dial makes it a simple matter to adjust amp types and parameter values. There’s also a TAP button that you can use to set delay times or the tempo of a rhythm pattern.
■ One hundred rhythm and bass patterns cover numerous styles with realistic PCM sound.
The one hundred built-in rhythm patterns cover a broad range of styles that include rock, jazz, funk, blues and dance music. The PCM sounds used in these patterns produce realistic accompaniments that are fun to play along with. There are even Bass patterns that let you specify the key chord, so you can practice any style of music while listening to a full rhythm and bass line. Since you can use the effect programs at the same time as these patterns, this is a great way to practice your picking, improve your rhythm or develop your sense of pitch. You can also make Chain Pattern settings to combine up to sixteen different rhythm patterns.
■ Phrase Trainer function helps you learn phrases by ear or practice soloing
You can record up to 30 seconds from an audio source such as a CD, MD or MP3, and play it back repeatedly (looped) at a slower speed without changing the pitch. This is a great way to learn complex or rapid passages by ear, since you’ll be able to hear the phrase slowly. You can also record a phrase that you play yourself along with the built-in rhythm and bass accompaniment, and then practice soloing over the top of it.
■ Mix your own playing with the playback of an audio source
You can connect a CD player or another external audio source to the AUX IN jack, and use the Key Transpose function to change the pitch of the song upward or downward by as much as one octave. The PX4D also contains a Bass Canceller function that erases the bass sound from an external audio source so that you can play and hear your bass along with the song.
■ Semitransparent LCD for superb visibility
The LCD that displays the names of effects and programs is backlit so you can read it easily even on a dimly lit stage. Immediately recognizable icons represent numerous functions. The display uses a semitransparent LCD so that characters and icons are lit up when backlit, providing a distinctive appearance. The unit also comes with a strap holder so that you can attach it directly to your instrument strap.

"REMS" modeling effect technology
KORG's proprietary "REMS" (Resonant structure and Electronic circuit Modeling System) modeling technology simulates the audio characteristics of many classic guitar amps, legendary recording microphones and numerous effects with startling realism, adding depth and character to your original recordings. The AMP effect faithfully recreates a range of amps; from classics such as the VOX AC30TB through today's latest guitar amps. The CABINET effect accurately simulates a wide variety of speaker cabinets that match the various AMP types. The 4-BAND EQ allows you to make detailed adjustments to the tonal character and you can also apply chorus, phaser, and flanger type MODULATION effects. For recording bass parts, the BASS DRIVE and BASS CABINET effects provide a broad spectrum of bass sounds that perfectly simulate the character of various bass rigs. When it comes time to add vocals – or another acoustic instrument – the mic simulator recreates the ideal tonality for various recording applications.
What is REMS?
REMS (Resonant structure and Electronic circuit Modeling System) is Korg's proprietary modeling technology that digitally simulates a wide range of factors that affect sound, including the sound-producing mechanism of acoustic and electric/electronic instruments, the body and cabinet resonances that affect the tone, the spatial character of the sound field in which the sound is heard, the electrical and acoustical response of the mics and speakers that are in the sound-transmission path, and the way in which electrical circuits such as vacuum tubes and transistors affect the tone.
Create multi-effect “chains” using up to five simultaneous effects.
The D4 digital recorder provides four types of effect chains, in which up to five effects can be connected in a specified order. This makes it easy to create multi-effects that are suitable for the material you're recording. These effect chains are stored as programs, with 100 user and 100 preset locations for easy access. The presets contain programs created by professional musicians and studio engineers and are ready to use. You can edit the effects in a program and store it in the user program area. Four chain types are provided. [GUITAR/MIC] is used when applying effects to a mono input, such as guitar or vocal; [INSERT/GTR+VO] is for use with a stereo input, or when applying separate effects to a vocal track and a guitar track that are being recorded simultaneously; [MASTER] makes the overall sound more consistent; and [FINAL], which applies overall adjustments to the final output stage. A dedicated switch is provided to select each chain type. No complicated operations are required, letting you concentrate on your recording.
High-quality PCM rhythms
Inside the D4 is a PCM sound generator that can produce 87 different rhythm patterns (32 metronome patterns and 55 rhythm patterns). The rich array of patterns include 8 beat, 16 beat, Rock, Funk, Big Beat, House, Reggae, Hip-Hop, R&B, Disco, Dance, Jazz, 3/4, 6/8, 5/4, and 7/4, covering a broad range from simple beats to highly distinctive styles. These rhythm patterns may be used as recording guides, or as an easy way to create tracks.
Reliable, convenient CompactFlash storage
CompactFlash capacities of 16 MB – 2 GB are supported for data storage. *1*2 The data is written automatically when you've finished recording or editing. The D4 also provides a USB connector, so it's easy to transfer song data and user effect data to your computer for backup. *3 Completed songs created within the D4 as stereo MPEG format *4 song files, can be played back as stereo MPEG files on your computer. *5 This also makes it easy to distribute or exchange data on the Internet.
